Colorize Old Photos — Privacy Policy

RAINBOW TREE LLC ("we", "us") sets out below how it handles user information in the iOS app "Colorize Old Photos - Restore" (Japanese name: かんたん白黒写真カラー化) (the "App").

1. Core principle

The App can be used without creating an account. All image processing — adding colour to a black-and-white photograph — happens entirely on your iPhone or iPad. Your photos themselves are never sent to or stored on our servers or the internet. We operate no server-side image processing of any kind.

2. Photo access

When you choose a photo, the App uses the iOS photo picker, so it does not request access to your entire photo library. We ask for "Add to Photos" permission only when you save a colorized image.

3. Face data (the App performs no face detection)

Face data is sensitive user information, so we state explicitly what this App does not do.

• What face data is collected: None. The App performs no face detection whatsoever. It does not locate faces, face contours, eyes, nose or mouth; it does not create, derive or store a faceprint, face template, face embedding or any other biometric identifier; and it never identifies, recognizes, verifies or matches any person.
• What the App actually does: it estimates colour for the whole of a single photograph the user picks. The machine-learning model bundled inside the app binary (DDColor) is a general image-to-image colorization network; it has no face-finding capability and produces no face-related output. The App does not use Apple's Vision face APIs (VNDetectFaceRectanglesRequest, VNDetectFaceLandmarksRequest), does not use CIDetector, and links no third-party face SDK.
• Where processing happens: entirely on the user's device. Neither the photo nor any derived data is transmitted to our servers or to any third party.
• Retention: no face data is collected, so there is no retention period. The photograph itself exists on the device only while the user is working on it.
• Sharing with third parties: none. No face data exists, and the photo never leaves the device, so there is nothing to share, sell or disclose.
• User control: a colorized image is written to the user's own photo library only if the user chooses to save it. Deleting the App removes anything the App held.

4. Information we obtain

The App's core feature does not collect or transmit your photos. However, we obtain the following for quality improvement and — only if you contact us — to reply to your inquiry. None of it includes the content of your photos.

• Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)
  Anonymous usage such as which screens and features were used, and an anonymous device identifier. It contains no photographs and nothing that identifies you personally.
• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
  Technical information when the App terminates unexpectedly (device model, OS version, location in the code). Used to fix defects.
• Inquiries (in-app support)
  Only if you use "Contact us" in the App: the text you send and an anonymous device-linked identifier are stored on our support server so that we can reply. No name or email address is required.

5. Provision to third parties

Other than the service providers listed above, we do not provide or sell the information we obtain to any third party. Photographs never leave the device and therefore cannot be provided to anyone.

6. Purchase information

All in-app purchase payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never obtain your payment information.

7. Your choices

You can change photo access and analytics at any time in the device Settings. Deleting the App removes the data stored on the device.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not designed for or directed at children under 13, and it is not registered in Apple's Kids category. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the change on this page.
